Job Description

Archbishop Borders School, the only Dual Language School in the Archdiocese of Baltimore, has an opening for a teacher to be responsible for teaching Middle School Social Studies/Religion.  The teacher will collaborate with other disciplines to promote cross-curricular activities. This position requires excellent communication and collaboration skills, as it involves co-planning of lessons and curricula.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Provides grade/content appropriate instructional program for Middle School Social Studies and Religion
  • Provides grade appropriate extended or enrichment opportunities
  • Supervises 20-30 students
  • Responsible for safety of students and classroom management
  • Assess and document student progress in all subject areas
  • Actively participates in parent conferences to discuss the student’s academic progress
  • Documents all instructional activities as required by the Principal
  • Collaborates with partner teachers and other members of the academic team in planning and implementing the instructional program
  • Supervision of students in class, hallways and during bathroom breaks
  • Supervision of students during lunch and/or recess
  • Participates in faculty meetings, school committees and in-service learning opportunities
  • Participates and assist in planning in School Activities, e.g. Field Day, Field Trips, Prayer and Liturgical gatherings, Walk for Education, Christmas Play, May festival.
  • Plans and supervises a minimum of one field trip per year
  • Maintains an attractive and engaging learning environment

Job Requirements

  • Bachelors of Art in Education, Social Studies, English or another field
  • Current MSDE certification required
  • Bilingual Spanish preferred
  • Experience working with diverse communities
  • Must be a practicing Roman Catholic
