Job Description

A Catholic Elementary School, located near Towson, Maryland, is seeking candidates for a Middle School Language Arts Teacher.   This is a Pre-K3 to 8th grade Catholic School.  The MS Language Arts teacher is responsible for implementing daily standard-based lessons to support student’s acquisition and application of developmentally appropriate skills and concepts in all subject areas (including religion), and to engage parents and colleagues in support of the middle school curriculum as prescribed by the Archdiocese of Baltimore. ( this is an effort to gather applicants for future openings)

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and document daily lesson plans consistent with Archdiocesan curriculum guidelines

  • Maintain high professional standards consistent with the mission of the school and the teaching of the Catholic Church

  • Responsible for the safety and active supervision of students at all times, and for classroom management using PBIS (positive behavior intervention and support)protocols

  • Implement lesson plans, utilizing techniques to motivate, challenge, engage and inspire students to think confidently and independently

  • Establish reasonable standards for student achievement

  • Interact effectively and respond to all parent communications in a professional, empathetic, and timely manner

  • Participate in faculty meetings, collaborative planning meetings, retreats, school committees, and in-service learning opportunities

  • Work collaboratively with other teachers, staff and administration

  • Integrate the use of technology appropriately and effectively into the curriculum

Job Requirements

  • Degree in Language Arts or a related filed
  • Must be a practicing Catholic with experience in a Catholic School setting

  • Experience teaching at the secondary level

  • MSDE certification in secondary education, endorsements in Language Arts

  • Intellectual curiosity and a commitment to best-practice pedagogy

  • An appreciation for Middle School students and their families
