Job Description

Immaculate Conception School, located in Towson, Maryland is seeking a Middle School Science Teacher .  Each teacher would be responsible for all lessons and labs for students in grades 6-8, and will include a middle school homeroom.  The science program at ICS is a rigorous and very successful element of our curriculum, with students utilizing iPads and Mondo Boards as part of daily instruction.  We are working towards STEM designation and science teachers are the primary leaders of this initiative.

  • Develop and document weekly lesson plans and labs consistent with curriculum guidelines
  • Provide grade appropriate instructional program within the context of the Archdiocesan Science Curriculum
  • Maintain high professional standards consistent with the mission of the school and the teachings of the Catholic Church
  • Responsible for the safety and active supervision of students at all times and for classroom management using PBIS (positive behavior intervention and support) protocols
  • Implement lesson plans, utilizing techniques to motivate, challenge and engage students, with a particular focus on connections to our Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) initiative
  • Establish reasonable standards for student achievement, updating electronic grade book weekly
  • Interact effectively and respond to all parent communication in a professional, empathetic and timely manner
  • Participate in faculty meetings, retreats, school committees and in-service learning opportunities
  • Participate in the active supervision of students at all times to include arrival/dismissal, car line, recess, dining hall, etc.
  • Must have the necessary classroom management skills to supervise adolescents
  • Work collaboratively with other teachers, staff and administration
  • Integrate iPad and Smartboard technology effectively into a 21st Century classroom
  • Actively participate in on going embedded professional development and professional learning communities





Job Requirements

  • Degree in Elementary or Secondary Education with a concentration in science
  • Current MSDE certification
  • Minimum of three years of experience teaching middle or high school science
  • Experience in a Catholic School setting is preferred
  • Must be comfortable with technology to include Google Docs, Smartboards, and Mondo Boards, etc.
  • Must have a commitment to Catholic School education
