Job Description

Saint James and John Catholic School, located in Baltimore City, Maryland is seeking a Middle School Math/Science Teacher.  The teacher would be responsible for all lessons in mathematics and science to students in grades 6-8, which will include a middle school homeroom. 

  • Develop and document weekly lesson plans consistent with curriculum guidelines
  • Provide grade appropriate instructional program.
  • Maintain high professional standards consistent with the mission of the school and the teachings of the Catholic Church
  • Responsible for the safety and active supervision of students at all times and for classroom management using PBIS (positive behavior intervention and support) protocols
  • Implement lesson plans, utilizing techniques to motivate, challenge and engage students, with a particular focus on connections to our STEM initiative.
  • Establish reasonable standards for student achievement, updating electronic grade book weekly
  • Interact effectively and respond to all parent communication in a professional, empathetic and timely manner
  • Participate in faculty meetings retreats, school committees and in-service learning opportunities
  • Participate in the active supervision of students at all times to include arrival/dismissal, car line, recess,  etc.
  • Must have the necessary classroom management skills to supervise adolescents
  • Work collaboratively with other teachers, staff and administration
  • Integrate  Smartboard technology effectively into a 21st Century classroom
  • Actively participate in on going embedded professional development and professional learning communities



Job Requirements

  • Degree in Elementary or Secondary Education with a concentration in mathematics and or science
  • Current MSDE certification
  • Minimum of three years of experience teaching middle or high school math  or science.
  • Experience in a Catholic School setting is preferred
  • Must be comfortable with technology to include integration in daily lessons
