Job Description

The teacher will serve as the middle school language arts/social studies teacher at Archbishop Borders School, dual language, Spanish-immersion Catholic school located in Baltimore, Maryland. Language Arts teachers are responsible for implementing daily standard-based lessons to support students’ acquisition and application of relevant academic skills and concepts, and to engage parents and colleagues in support of the language arts curriculum as prescribed by the Archdiocese of Baltimore. This teacher will be responsible for 6th, 7th, and 8th grade ELA, 8th grade SS, and an advisory period, grade TBD. This teaching position will begin in August 2018.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and document daily lesson plans consistent with curriculum guidelines.
  • Maintain high professional standards consistent with the mission of the school and the teaching of the Catholic Church.
  • Responsible for the safety and active supervision of students at all times and for classroom management using PBIS (positive behavior intervention and support) protocols.
  • Implement lesson plans, utilizing techniques (including technology) to motivate, challenge, engage and inspire students.
  • Establish reasonable standards for student achievement
  • Interact effectively and respond to all parent communication in a professional, empathetic, and timely manner.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, collaborative planning meetings, retreats, school committees, and in-service learning opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with other teachers, staff, and administration.
  • Integrate the use of technology appropriately and effectively into the curriculum.

 

 

Job Requirements

  • Degree in English or related field
  • MSDE Certification
  • Experience in a Catholic School setting preferred
  • Experience teaching at the middle school level
  • Experience teaching in a diverse setting
  • Bilingual in Spanish/English preferred, but not mandatory
