Job Description

Resurrection/St. Paul School located in Ellicott City, Maryland has  teacher openings for grade 5. Resurrection/St. Paul School is a Pre-K3 to 8th grade Catholic school . The 5th Grade teacher is responsible for implementing daily standard-based lessons to support students’ acquisition and application of developmentally appropriate skills and concepts in all subject areas (but mostly Mathematics, Religion, and Science), and to engage parents and colleagues in support of the intermediate school’s curriculum as prescribed by the Archdiocese of Baltimore.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and document daily lesson plans consistent with Archdiocesan curriculum guidelines.
  • Maintain high professional standards consistent with the mission of the school and the teaching of the Catholic Church.
  • Responsible for the safety and active supervision of students at all times and for classroom management using PBIS (positive behavior intervention and support) protocols.
  • Implement lesson plans, utilizing techniques to motivate, challenge, engage and inspire students to think and express themselves confidently and independently.
  • Establish reasonable standards for student achievement.
  • Interact effectively and respond to all parent communication in a professional, empathetic, and timely manner.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, collaborative planning meetings, retreats, school committees, and in-service learning opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with other teachers, staff, and administration.
  • Integrate the use of technology appropriately and effectively into the curriculum.

Job Requirements

  • Degree in elementary education or a related field.
  • Experience in a Catholic School setting.
  • Experience teaching at the intermediate level.
  • Knowledge of STEM educational practices
  • MSDE certification in elementary education.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a commitment to best-practice pedagogy in intermediate education.
  • An appreciation for intermediate students and their families.
