Job Description

Mother Seton Academy located in Baltimore City, MD has an opening for an Art teacher with additional responsibilities as the coordinator of the Extended Day Program. Hours for this position are 9:30-5:30, Monday through Friday following the school calendar.

The Art Teacher responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following tasks.

  • Teach six weekly sections of art class (two 6th grade, one 7th grade, and two 8th grade)
  • Attend other required school events beyond the school day, such as parent-teacher conferences, staff retreat days, and applicant Saturday School in March.
  • Take advantage of professional development opportunities
  • Attend and contribute to grade level team, faculty, and department meetings
  • Complete hall, cafeteria, monitored homework, field trip, and other duties as assigned
  • Communicate regularly with parents of students and advisees
  • Complete other duties as assigned by the school Principal
  • The Extended Day Coordinator responsibilities include, but are not, limited to, the following tasks: Coordinate and supervise the extended day activities until 5:00 pm each day
  • Identify and coordinate vetting of prospective tutors and club teachers for the extended day program
  • Liaise with tutors and club teachers to facilitate their participation in the extended day program
  • Plan and schedule academic programming for the extended day according to the recommendations of teachers and under the direction of the principal



Job Requirements


  • Bachelor’s degree in art or education; master’s preferred
  • Commitment to Catholic education and to MSA school mission
  • Strong education background and art teaching experience
  • Successful experience working with urban population is preferred, but not required
  • MSDE teacher certification preferred, but not required

A second interview is then held with the President, Sister Margaret Juskelis,SSND. Successful candidates must pass a criminal background check.
