Job Description

Do you have five or more years in finance?  Have you served in a leadership role?  Are you looking to take your career to the next level?  We are looking for a strong candidate for a fantastic opportunity as Regional Controller at The Archdiocese of Baltimore. 

The Regional Controller (RC) is a vital supporting member of the leadership of the Vicariates offices.  The position directly reports to the Director of Parish and School Finance, and supports the Vicar Bishops in understanding and promoting financial processes that are consistent with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and follow Archdiocesan best practices. 

Specific Duties and Responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):

  • Identify options and solutions to financial challenges facing Parishes within the Archdiocese of Baltimore
  • Monitor the financial practices at the individual pastorates
  • Financial Reporting - monitoring parish/pastorate financial reports to comply with policies
  • Budgeting - identifying probable resources, planning and researching, providing expertise to pastorate leadership
  • Maintaining Financial Controls - assist Pastorate Director of Operations
  • Advanced accounting – The RC will provide the required accounting expertise as needed
  • Asset management – maintaining assets and assist in managing capital projects and campaigns
  • Deliver financial analyses and bench-marking of pastorates as requested 

Job Requirements

Required Education & Experience:

  • BS/BA in accounting, CPA and/or MBA preferred
  • Five or more years of public accounting experience or eight years in managerial accounting roles
  • At least two years demonstrated experience in leading staff or project teams

Required Knowledge, Abilities & Skills:

  • Understanding of and ability to support the operation and mission of the Catholic Church
  • Strong leadership, interpersonal and analytical skills
  • Strong written and oral skills and ability to deliver clear financial presentations to different constituencies
  • Ability to interact effectively as a team member and to supervise others
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, as well as other Microsoft Office Products
  • Working knowledge of QuickBooks
