Job Description

St. Alphonsus Rodriguez, located in Woodstock, Maryland, has an opening for a Dynamic Preschool Director.  It is the Director's job to oversee the quality of the educational and spiritual components of the parish preschool program.  You will work closely with an administrative team which consists of an Assistant Director and Business/Enrollment Manager.  This is a benefit eligible, 30+ hours per week, 10 months a year position.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Assume responsibility for the daily operation of the preschool program (including before and after care programs)
  • Act as liaison between the preschool staff, and the preschool families
  • Maintain policies and procedures for program operation
  • Ensure compliance with church and diocesan Safe Environment requirements
  • Supervise implementation of program curriculum
  • Provide support for teachers
  • Maintain a visible presence to staff, students and preschool families
  • Conduct staff meetings and supervise the development of in-service training programs for staff
  • Communicate and support the staff in carrying out the standards of the preschool
  • Communicate and be a liaison to Parish pastor, Preschool Staff, Parents and Community
  • Plan promotional communications of school events and news on social media
  • Assist in the planning of parent orientation
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of the staff handbook and employment agreements
  • Conduct periodic evaluations for staff; provide feedback, coaching and disciplinary action
  • Work with church staff to coordinate facilities requirements, schedules and maintenance to support preschool activities
  • Assist in the management of enrollment and staffing plans to meet income and expense goals for annual budgets

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree (early childhood education, elementary education or child development preferred)
  • 90 early childhood credit hours as described by MSDE Comar regulations - 6 semester, 90 clock hours or the equivalent of approved early childhood coursework
  • 45 hours child development and 45 hours curriculum planning
  • 45 clock hours of MSDE Administrative Training
  • 3 clock hours of ADA compliance training
  • Minimum of three years of full-time teaching experience in an accredited early childhood teaching setting
  • High personal integrity
  • Strong work ethic
  • Ability to effectively communicate with parents, teachers and children
  • Ability to understand and manage the complexities of a preschool program
  • Ability to establish and maintain good interpersonal relationships
  • A child-centered approach to preschool administration
