Job Description

The teacher will serve as the full-time lead teacher for Pre-K 3 classes at Immaculate Conception School. IHM is a Pre-K3 to 8th grade Catholic school in Towson, Maryland. The Pre-K 3 teacher is responsible for implementing daily standard-based lessons to support students’ acquisition and application of developmentally appropriate skills and concepts in all subject areas (including religion), and to engage parents and colleagues in support of the early childhood curriculum as prescribed by the Archdiocese of Baltimore.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and document daily lesson plans consistent with Archdiocesan curriculum guidelines.
  • Maintain high professional standards consistent with the mission of the school and the teaching of the Catholic Church.
  • Responsible for the safety and active supervision of students at all times and for classroom management using PBIS (positive behavior intervention and support) protocols.
  • Implement lesson plans, utilizing techniques to motivate, challenge, engage and inspire students to think and express themselves confidently and independently.
  • Establish reasonable standards for student achievement.
  • Interact effectively and respond to all parent communication in a professional, empathetic, and timely manner.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, collaborative planning meetings, retreats, school committees, and in-service learning opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively with other teachers, staff, and administration.
  • Integrate the use of technology appropriately and effectively into the curriculum.

Job Requirements

  • Degree in early childhood education or a related field.
  • Experience in a Catholic School setting.
  • Experience teaching at the pre-primary  level.
  • MSDE certification PreK-3.
  • Intellectual curiosity and a commitment to best-practice pedagogy in early childhood education.
  • An appreciation for four year olds and their families.
