Job Description

Monsignor Slade Catholic School, located in Glen Burnie, Maryland, has an opening for a part time Physical Education teacher for the 2018-2019 school year. The teacher will be responsible for teaching P.E. to Pre-K-grade 8 students.  This  position is currently an 80% position (four full days a week), with the potential of being a full-time position if the candidate is certified to teach in other content areas.  

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and document weekly lesson plans consistent with curriculum guidelines for the Archdiocese of Baltimore
  • Provide developmentally appropriate instruction for Pre-K - 8th grade students in the area of physical education 
  • Maintain high professional standards consistent with the mission of the school and teachings of the Catholic Church
  • Responsible for the safety and active supervision of students at all times and for classroom management
  • Implement lesson plans, utilizing techniques to motivate, challenge, and engage a diverse body of learners
  • Utilize differentiated instructional strategies and small group instruction to reach all learners.
  • Establish reasonable standards for student achievement
  • Integrate the use of technology, including iPads, Chromebooks, and Google Classroom when applicable
  • Develop assessments to measure and document student progress
  • Interact effectively and respond to all parent communication in a professional, empathetic, and timely manner
  • Participate in faculty meetings, school committees, professional development and school events
  • Work collaboratively with other teachers, staff, and administration
  • Coordinate all field day activities
  • Act as faculty liaison for the MSCS Athletic Council

Job Requirements

  • State of Maryland Teaching Certificate in Physical Education Pre-K-8
  • Teaching experience in a Catholic School setting as a P.E. teacher is preferred
