Job Description

Our Lady of Perpetual Help School, a Blue Ribbon School located in Ellicott City, Maryland, is seeking a middle school Science teacher for the 2018-2019 school year.  The teacher would be responsible for all lessons in Science to students in grades 6-8.  The middle school Science teacher is responsible for implementing daily standard-based lessons to support student's acquisition and application of the curriculum aligned with the standards of the Archdiocese of Baltimore.  This is a non-benefited fifteen hour a week position.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Inspire and model a lived faith and love of the Lord for all students
  • Create and environment for a love of learning and intellectual curiosity to blossom
  • Foster opportunities for children to grow in social and emotional development
  • Develop and document daily lesson plans consistent with Archdiocesan curriculum guidelines
  • Maintain high professional standards consistent with the mission of the school and the teachings of the Catholic Church
  • Responsible for the safety and active supervision of students at all times, including effective classroom management
  • Implement lesson plans, utilizing techniques to motivate, challenge, engage and inspire students to think confidently and independently
  • Integrate the use of technology appropriately and effectively into the curriculum
  • Establish reasonable standards for student achievement
  • Interact effectively and respond to all parent communications in a professional, empathetic, and timely manner.  Engage parents in opportunities for partnership, enrichment, and support
  • Participate in faculty meetings, collaborative planning meetings, retreats, school committees, and in-service learning opportunities
  • Work collaboratively with other teachers, staff and administration
  • Collaborate with volunteers, parents, coaches and assist in implementing school Robotics Program
  • Assist in other STEM areas





Job Requirements

  • Degree in Elementary or Secondary Education (concentration in Science preferred)
  • Current MSDE certification in middle (4-9) or secondary (7-12) science
  • Minimum of three years experience (teaching middle/high school science preferred)
  • Experience in a Catholic School setting is preferred
  • Must be comfortable with technology to include integration in daily lessons
  • Must have a commitment to Catholic School education
