Job Description

The School of the Incarnation located in Gambrills, Maryland has an opening for a Middle School Language Arts Long Term substitute Teacher. The  teacher will work as a member of the middle school teaching team to provide instruction in the areas of grammar, reading, writing and vocabulary in an integrated language arts program. This position does not have a homeroom for this school year.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and document weekly lesson plans that are consistent with curriculum guidelines for the Archdiocese of Baltimore.
  • Provide developmentally appropriate instruction for middle school students in the area of language arts.
  • Maintain high professional standards consistent with the mission of the school and the teachings of the Catholic Church.
  • Responsible for the safety and active supervision of students at all times and for classroom management using PBIS protocols.
  • Implement lesson plans, utilizing techniques to motivate, challenge and engage a diverse body of learners.
  • Utilize differentiated instructional strategies and small group instruction to reach all learners.
  • Establish reasonable standards for student achievement.
  • Integrate the use of technology, including iPads, Google Classroom and interactive white board resources.
  • Develop assessments to measure and document student progress.
  • Interact effectively and respond to all parent communication in a professional, empathetic and timely manner.
  • Participate in faculty meetings, school committees, professional development and school events.
  • Work collaboratively with other teachers, staff and administrators.

Job Requirements

  • Degree in Elementary Education or Secondary Education with a concentration in English
  • Current MSDE certification in English, reading or language arts.
  • Teaching experience in a Catholic School setting or as a middle school language arts teacher is preferred.
