Job Description

St. Joseph School, located in Cockeysville Maryland,  seeks an experienced, effective, and energetic Middle School Math teacher. Teachers should possess a passion for teaching and be able to collaborate with colleagues .  As necessary, the teacher must be available to meet with students for extra help during lunc/recess, before school, or after school. Teacher must also be willing to moderate Student Council and assist with NJHS.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement engaging developmentally appropriate lessons
  • Observe and assess student progress, recording such progress and sharing with parents as required by school policy.   Fill out report cards each trimester including notes about each child.  
  • Maintain an attractive, organized, engaging learning environment
  • Develop procedures for inside and outside the classroom
  • Maintain familiarity with all emergency procedures and protocol
  • Supervise children at all times
  • Communicate in a clear and professional manner.  Written communication is grammatically correct and error free.  
  • Keep detailed records observing children’s behavior and progress.  
  • Communicate with parents frequently regarding the student experience, identifying early concerns and providing resources
  • Attend all faculty meetings and school events
  • Attend all professional development days and workshops

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, advanced degree preferred
  • Demonstrated experience teaching middle school mathematics, preferably including intermediate and advanced algebra.
  • Proficiency in the use of classroom technology: graphing calculators, GAFE, various computer applications
  • Proven ability to engage students in meaningful lessons and assignments
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
