Job Description

The John Carroll School seeks an experienced, effective, and energetic Mathematics Long-Term Substitute to teach Algebra, Honors Algebra, Geometry, and Honors Geometry beginning in mid-late August until the end of November.  Candidates should possess a passion for teaching and be able to collaborate with colleagues to keep different sections of the same course progressing at the same rate.  Successful candidates will have a proven record of teaching math to high school students, engaging and motivating students, managing a classroom in an effective and safe manner, grading student work in a timely fashion, keeping organized records, following school policies, and respecting John Carroll's Catholic mission.  As necessary, candidates must be available to meet with students for extra help during free periods, before school, or after school.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required, advanced degree preferred
  • Demonstrated experience teaching high school mathematics, preferably including intermediate and advanced algebra
  • Proficiency in the use of classroom technology: graphing calculators, short-throw projector, various computer applications
  • Proven ability to engage students in meaningful lessons and assignments
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
