Job Description

St. Francis of Assisi School, a parish school in Northeast Baltimore, seeks qualified candidates to serve as a Kindergarten Lead Teacher. The Lead Teacher is responsible for providing a safe and developmentally appropriate program for young children that complies with all mandated state and Archdiocesan policies and procedures. St. Francis of Assisi is an approved International Baccalaureate World School offering the Middle Years Program for grades 6-8. The school also features a Preschool program for ages 2-4 which is rated Level 5 with Maryland EXCELS.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Plan and implement engaging developmentally appropriate lessons for an Early Childhood setting. Lessons should have clear objectives aligned with the curriculum standards of the Archdiocese of Baltimore
  • Observe and assess student progress, recording such progress and sharing with parents as required by school policy. Fill out report cards each trimester including notes about each child
  • Maintain an attractive, organized, engaging learning environment
  • Develop procedures for inside and outside the classroom
  • Maintain familiarity with all emergency procedures and protocol
  • Responsible for the safety and active supervision of students at all times, and for classroom management using PBIS (positive behavior intervention and support) protocols
  • Communicate in a clear and professional manner. Written communication is grammatically correct and error free
  • Keep detailed records observing children's behavior and progress. Lead teachers share this information effectively with parents and colleagues
  • Communicate with parents frequently regarding the student experience, identifying early concerns and providing resources
  • Work collaboratively with other teachers, staff, and administration
  • Attend all faculty meetings and school events, including, but not limited to, Back to School Nights, Open Houses, Parent/Teacher conferences, and other events as requested by administration
  • Attend all professional development days and workshops
  • Maintain high professional standards consistent with the mission of the school and the teaching of the Catholic Church

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
  • MSDE certification, required
  • Basic understanding of Catholic School philosophy, goals and objectives; practicing Catholic required
  • Positive references and recommendations
