Job Description

Immaculate Conception School, located in Towson, Maryland is seeking an Intermediate Language Arts Teacher for the 2018-2019 school year.  The teacher would be responsible for all lessons in Language Arts to students.  This program at ICS is a rigorous and very successful element of our curriculum.

  • Develop and document weekly lesson plans consistent with AOB curriculum guidelines
  • Maintain high professional standards consistent with the mission of the school and the teachings of the Catholic Church
  • Responsible for the safety and active supervision of students at all times and for classroom management using PBIS (positive behavior intervention and support) protocols
  • Implement lesson plans, utilizing techniques to motivate, challenge and engage students, with a particular focus on connections to our Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) initiative
  • Establish reasonable standards for student achievement, updating electronic grade book weekly
  • Interact effectively and respond to all parent communication in a professional, empathetic and timely  manner
  • Participate in faculty meetings, retreats, school committees and in-service learning opportunities
  • Participate in the active supervision of students at all times to include arrival/dismissal, car line, recess, dining hall, etc.
  • Must have the necessary classroom management skills to supervise adolescents
  • Work collaboratively with other teachers, staff and administration
  • Integrate iPad and Smartboard technology effectively into a 21st Century classroom
  • Actively participate in on going embedded professional development and professional learning communities




Job Requirements

  • Must be a practicing Catholic
  • Degree in Elementary or Secondary Education
  • Current MSDE certification
  • Previous experience in a Catholic School and or Church setting is preferred
  • Must be comfortable with technology to include Google Docs, Smartboards, etc.
  • Must have a commitment to Catholic School education
