Job Description

Our Lady of Victory Elementary School, located in Baltimore County, seeks a Guidance Counselor to support and educate elementary and middle school students through a well-prepared counseling program. The Guidance Counselor will serve as the facilitator representing the essential needs of students as they achieve optimal personal growth, acquire positive social skills and values, and realize full academic potential to become productive, contributing members of the community.  This is a part time position Monday-Thursday from 8:30-1:30 following the school calendar.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement an all-encompassing educational and counseling plan with modern methods of teaching and mentoring following MSDE guidelines
  • Implement specialized classroom programs at least once per month in each grade
  • Work in all classrooms with team building activities
  • Provide proactive leadership that engages all stakeholders in the delivery of programs and services to help students achieve school success
  • Foster equal opportunity practices and encourage students’ association
  • Pay attention to cultural or societal differences in dealing with all students
  • Conduct group or individual counseling sessions to assist students with problems or concerns
  • Assess students’ attributes and help them recognize their strengths
  • Develop and implement at least 2 parent programs to be help during the school year to deal with current issues/topics
  • Identify behavioral problems or at-risk students and act appropriately
  • Cooperate with parents and teachers as well as other appropriate parties
  • Complete intake assessments and tests, analyze results and provide feedback
  • Study and update student records
  • Prepare and present reviews on progress, attend IEP/504 meetings at public school
  • Develop and conduct bi-monthly (or as needed) faculty and staff community building workshops, activities etc.
  • Testing coordinator for standardized testing

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor degree in School Counseling; state credential preferred
  • Experience preferred
  • Ability to operate within a wide range of student personalities and backgrounds
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to Catholic School education.
