Job Description

School of the Incarnation, located in Gambrills, MD, is seeking candidates for a Group Leader-Afterschool Program for the new school year.  Group leaders provide student supervision in a licensed afterschool program operated by the school.  They work with students on homework, crafts, games, outside play andplay and other activities. Hours are Monday thru Friday from2:45 to 6p.m. Three or five day schedules are available.


Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the care and well-being of the school-age child; ranging in age from five years to fourteen years of age.  Responsibilities will vary depending on the age group.  You will be assigned to one age/class group; this may change according to need
  • The group leader will work under the supervision of a director who has overall responsibility to plan and supervise the children's program
  • Assisting students as needed during snack and occasional lunch time
  • Helping students with homework when necessary
  • Supervising outside play and organizing outside games
  • Organizing and creating activities within the classroom such as art activities, games, stories or music for the children in the assigned age group
  • Care and upkeep of program supplies and games
  • Maintain professional standards consistent with the mission of the school and the teachings of the Catholic Church
  • Responsible for the safety and active supervision of students at all times and for classroom management using PBIS protocols
  • Work collaboratively with other teachers, staff and the program director


Job Requirements

  • Associates degree or 90-hour certificate in child care preferred
  • Successful experience in a child-care setting with demonstrated basic skills and knowledge needed to supervise, and guide children through daily activities
  • CPR and 1st Aid certifications or a willingness to complete necessary coursework prior to hire
