Job Description

Our Lady of the Field Parish, located in Millersville, Maryland, is seeking candidates for a Custodian.  We are looking for a responsible custodian who can keep our office, school and church complex clean and assist with setting up our hall for large presentations and church meetings.  The Custodian is responsible for keeping a running inventory of all cleaning supplies and submitting purchasing requests when supplies get low.  Provide full-time support as required and reports to the Parish Business Manager.  Work times: 12 noon to 8 p.m. with a paid 30 minute lunch period; Sunday through Thursday.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Use cleaning supplies and equipment to keep the interior of the office, school and church buildings looking clean and professional
  • Respond to cleaning requests quickly and with a professional manner
  • Adhere to the company's safety policies to create a safe work environment for everyone
  • Perform routine cleaning tasks based on a schedule created by the facility management team
  • Provide advice on any supplies needed
  • Setup hall for events (tables and chairs per renter)
  • Clean up hall as necessary for the next event
  • Keep kitchen clean and free of trash
  • Lock up building upon leaving
  • Assure bathrooms are clean and equipped with paper products
  • Report any issues to the business manager
  • Engage in constructive dialog with members of the parish
  • Develop positive working relationships between all members of the parish staff
  • Perform other duties as needed or requested



Job Requirements

  • High School Diploma
  • A minimum of two years' experience as a custodian
  • It is helpful to be aware of Catholic doctrine and practices to be able to communicate the Church's mission and goals
  • Collaborative and organizational skills required, including time management, delegation, and planning; interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to work effectively with others
