Job Description

St. Joan of Arc Parish, located in Aberdeen, Maryland, is seeking candidates for the Coordinator for Youth/Young Adult Evangelization Ministry.  The Coordinator is the primary staff member responsible for coordinating ministry for Youth/Young Adults (13-40's).  The Coordinator reports to the Pastoral Associate.  This minister is responsible for connecting with young adults in creative ways that will demonstrate, enable and enhance evangelization.  Working with the Parish and School staff the minister will encourage Young Adults in the life of the parish in social, service, and spiritual opportunities and programs attuned to their age level and to inspire spiritual growth.  This is an 20 hour per week position.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Coordinates and implements all ministry programs for youth/young adults, including spiritual, service & social events
  • Recruits, trains, directs and leads a Servant Leadership Team made up of young adults that assist with the designing and implementation of Alpha
  • Communicates and participates with the Archdiocesan Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministry and with other ministers in the Harford region and in the Archdiocese when necessary (e.g. training opportunities, policy/procedure consultation, etc.)
  • Participates in parish staff meetings and collaborates with and assists other parish staff members
  • Participates in the annual parish strategic planning process and develops budget and programs that conform to the objectives of that plan
  • Develops and adheres to a department budget, under the guidance of the Parish Business Manager, and tracks expenditures throughout the year
  • Consults with Pastor, principal and pastoral associate for feedback and approvals as needed
  • Plan and facilitate retreats, social events and service projects as needed
  • Advertise programs and utilize social media to evangelize youth and young adults through announcements in weekly bulletin, pulpit announcements, maintaining website communications and various forms of media, such as Facebook, Twitter and Instagram

 

 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree is preferred
  • Must be a practicing Catholic who models his/her faith through active participation in parish life
  • Must have a good knowledge of Catholic Church teachings and a sense of its mission
  • Must have a passion for ministry and be able to relate well with young adults
  • Excellent leadership, communication and interpersonal skills are required
  • Must be proficient in using technology and electronic media communications; must be able to use these mediums to connect effectively with young adults
  • Must be able to model and communicate faith in a way that inspires and motivates others to actively participate in parish life
