Job Description

Resurrection of Our Lord Parish, located in Laurel, Maryland, is seeking a dedicated, faith-filled Catholic to join our team as part-time Coordinator of Children's Faith Formation in a program that delivers religious education to 150+ students per year.  This is a 16 hours per week position and reports to the Pastor.  This critically important program contributes significantly to the vibrancy of Resurrection of Our Lord.

The Coordinator of Religious Education will develop, implement, direct, and supervise a comprehensive program of dynamic, engaging, and effective religious education and sacramental preparation (First Reconciliation and First Communion) for the children and youth of the parish (pre-K 4's - 8th grade).


Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (Theology, Philosophy, Catechesis, or similar preferred)
  • Experience in religious education, ministry, or teaching can stand in place of degree
  • Extensive knowledge of the Catholic faith
  • A passionate and faith-filled Catholic who actively lives out the teachings of the Church, who has an active prayer life and is comfortable leading others in prayer and connecting the relationship between faith and life experiences
  • A leader who comfortably delegates and collaborates with peers, parents, and youth
  • Strong organizational skills
  • Awareness and continued study of Church Teaching and Parish Life
  • Creativity and intellectual curiosity to explore new resources and trainings to maintain a dynamic ministry
  • Self-motivation and internal drive to pursue goals and to re-evaluate them
  • The desire to collaborate with parish staff and other regional religious educators
  • An engaging personality and professional demeanor
  • Strong communication skills and comfort in effectively presenting to large groups, and one-on-one with parents, youth, parishioners
  • Comfort and familiarity using social media platforms
  • Ample skills in Microsoft Office
  • Willingness and ability to embrace and utilize technology in Religious Education
  • The ability to relate well with children ages Pre K through 8th Grade
  • Spanish-English bilingual is helpful
