Job Description

Mount de Sales Academy located in Catonsville, Maryland has an opening for a Computer Science teacher with responsibilities for other technology support for the school.  This role encompasses teaching one class of Introduction to Computer Science as well as providing basic support to students and faculty. The position is also responsible for providing technical assistance and support related to computer systems, hardware, or software. The Technology Help Desk Specialist will function as the first level of support for faculty and staff. Primary responsibilities are to provide maintenance of the computer desktop environment by troubleshooting and resolving problems, installing hardware and software solutions, and supporting the school’s IT Helpdesk. This position will be responsible for administration and internal support of the PCs, tablets, printers, and all other end user devices. From time to time, this will involve end-user support, performing PC maintenance, troubleshooting, and upgrades.

Job Responsibilities:

User Support

  • Provide technical assistance and support for incoming queries and issues related to computer systems, software, and hardware.
  • Respond to email messages from faculty and staff seeking help.
  • Provide assistance to staff and faculty with current business and educational software applications such as Microsoft Office 2016.
  • Provide assistance to staff and faculty with classroom audiovisual needs, including setup of projectors, HDMI Switches and Splitters, and audio.
  • Provide initial assessment of technology support needs for faculty and students.

 Hardware and Software Support

  • Service and replacement support for printers and copiers including toner and ink cartridge
  • Install, modify, and repair computer hardware and software per common school specifications.
  • Configuration and set up of all computer systems required internally for activities. 

   Other Support                               

  • Administration and maintenance of internal systems including data and voice systems.
  • Maintain confidentiality with regard to the information being processed, stored, or accessed by the network.
  • Work under the supervision of the school’s Technology Administrator.
  • Maintain daily performance of computer systems.
  • Run diagnostic programs to resolve problems.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve end user issues.
  • Install computer peripherals for users.
  • Follow up with users to ensure issue has been resolved.


  • Teach a fundamental computer science class.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelors or technical degree in technology-related field, or equivalent technology experience as determined by the administration.
  • Current experience as hardware or software technician, on a medium sized network of servers, desktop systems and communications devices using current technologies.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
