Job Description

The John Carroll School, located in Bel Air, Maryland, seeks an experienced, effective, and energetic Full-Time Biology Teacher to teach two sections of Honors Biology and three sections of College Preparatory Biology to freshmen beginning in August 2018.  Candidates should possess a passion for teaching science and be able to collaborate with colleagues to keep different sections of the same course progressing at the same rate.  Successful candidates will have a proven record of teaching biology to high school students, engaging and motivating students, managing a classroom in an effective and safe manner, grading student work in a timely fashion, keeping organized records, following school policies, and respecting John Carroll's Catholic mission.  As necessary, candidates must be available to meet with students for extra help during free periods, before school, or after school.


Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree required, advanced degree preferred
  • Demonstrated experience teaching high school biology
  • Proficiency in the use of classroom technology: short-throw projector, various computer applications, use of Vernier probes and Lab Quest data interfaces
  • Proven ability to engage students in meaningful lessons and assignments
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
