Job Description

The School of the Incarnation, located in Gambrills, MD, is seeking candidates for an Aide for the Afterschool Program for the new school year.  Aides receive direction from the Group leaders, and provide student supervision in a licensed afterschool program operated by the school.  They work with students on homework, crafts, games, outside play and other activities. Hours are Monday thru Friday from 2:45 to 6 p.m. Three or five day schedules are available.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the care and well-being of the school-age child; ranging in age from five years to fourteen years of age.  Responsibilities will vary depending on the age group.  You will be assigned to one age/class group; this may change according to need
  • The aide will work under the supervision of a group leader and Director who has overall responsibility to plan and supervise the children's program
  • Assisting students as needed during snack and occasional lunch time
  • Helping students with homework when necessary
  • Supervising outside play and organizing outside games
  • Organizing and creating activities within the classroom such as art activities, games, stories or music for the children in the assigned age group
  • Care and upkeep of program supplies and games
  • Maintain professional standards consistent with the mission of the school and the teachings of the Catholic Church
  • Responsible for the safety and active supervision of students at all times and for classroom management using PBIS protocols
  • Work collaboratively with other aides, staff and the program director


Job Requirements

  • Associates degree or 90-hour certificate in child care preferred
  • Successful experience in a child-care setting with demonstrated basic skills and knowledge needed to supervise, and guide children through daily activities
  • CPR and 1st Aid certifications or a willingness to complete necessary coursework prior to hire
