Job Description

The John Carroll School seeks an experienced, effective, and energetic full-time mathematics instructor for the 2019-2020 school year. The ideal candidate should be able to teach Geometry, Trigonometry, all levels of Algebra, and Calculus. Applicants should possess a passion for teaching and be able to collaborate with colleagues to keep different sections of the same course progressing at the same rate. Successful candidates will have a proven record of teaching math to high school students, engaging and motivating students, managing a classroom in an effective and safe manner, grading student work in a timely fashion, keeping organized records, following school policies, and supporting John Carroll’s Catholic mission. John Carroll faculty are expected to make themselves available to meet with students for extra help during free periods and after school. The candidate will also serve as an advisor to a small group of students and be encouraged to get involved in John Carroll’s extracurricular activities.

Job Requirements

Successful applicants must possess: • Bachelor’s Degree required, advanced degree and MSDE certificate preferred • Demonstrated experience teaching high school mathematics

  • Proficiency in the use of classroom technology: graphing calculators, projectors, document cameras, and various computer applications
  • Proven ability to engage students in meaningful lessons and assignments
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills
