Job Description

Saint John the Evangelist School, located in Severna Park, MD, has an immediate opening for a grade 3-5 math and science teacher    The successful candidate must hold a current Maryland State Teaching Certificate and have experience working with elementary students.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Implement lesson plans utilizing a variety of techniques to motivate, challenge and engage students
  • Plan and execute instructional programs that adhere to both district and school-wide goals
  • Create an instructional environment conducive to learning
  • Interact effectively and respond to all parent communication in a professional, empathetic and timely manner
  • Communicate standards, achievements and deficiencies to students and parents through email, phone calls, conferences, and an electronic grade books on a weekly basis
  • Maintain high professional standards consistent with the mission of the school and the teachings of the Catholic Church
  • Safely and actively supervise students both inside and outside of the classroom
  • Work collaboratively with other teachers, staff, and administration
  • Expertly integrate iPad and SmartBoard technology into a 21st Century classroom
  • Meet the needs, interests and abilities of students
  • Attend all faculty meetings, professional development, grade level and curriculum meetings
  • Attend graduation and other "after hour" activities as requested
  • Serve on various committees
  • Perform various non-teaching related duties such as recess, lunch, carline, etc.


Job Requirements

  • Degree in Elementary or Secondary Education
  • Experience in a Catholic School setting is preferred
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of pedagogy
  • Knowledge of curriculum
  • Knowledge of instructional materials and equipment
  • Ability to properly maintain confidential information
