Job Description

SS. Philip and James Parish, located in Baltimore, MD, is seeking candidates for a part-time Rectory Cook.  The hours for this position are Monday - Friday, 3:00 p.m. - 5:30 p.m.  The rectory cook will plan and prepare delicious, nutritious and balanced meals for the Dominican Community and their guests.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and display weekly menu
  • The weekly menu will be approved by the rector
  • Prepare balanced, nutritious and delicious meals for 6 to 8 people
  • Prepare meals suited for the elderly with health concerns
  • Prepare supper to be served at 5:15 p.m. from Monday to Friday
  • Monitor portions so that food is not wasted
  • Maintain kitchen, breakfast room and dining room so that they are clean and in order
  • Wash pots and pans. (Dinner dishes will be washed by the priests and brothers)
  • Unload/load dishwasher if necessary
  • Review pantry, refrigerator and cupboards in order to maintain inventory
  • Review pantry, refrigerator and cupboards to keep inventory current
  • Notify the minister of the house of shopping list
  • Shopping, as needed, with the minister of the house
  • Notify the rector of broken or damaged appliances or equipment
  • Prepare for events and parties in the rectory as requested
  • Other responsibilities related to food preparation as needed

Job Requirements

  • Experience cooking for the elderly
  • Experience cooking for large and small groups of people
  • Food handling and safety certification
  • Three (3) recommendations
