Job Description

The Cathedral of Mary Our Queen has an opening for a Coordinator of Youth Ministry. The Coordinator of Youth Ministry will be responsible for both helping to develop and executing the vision and organization of the parish ministry to young people in Grades 6-12. The Coordinator’s primary goals are to foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person, and to draw young people into responsible participation in the life, mission and work of Jesus Christ, within the community of disciples at the Cathedral of Mary Our Queen.

  • Provide leadership and direction for parish community in the formation, planning, implementation and ongoing support of its catechetical ministry for the youth-grade six through grade twelve
  • Foster, develop and maintain collaborative relationships with the Pastor, Director of Evangelization and Faith Formation, School Principal, Elementary Catechesis Coordinator, Music Director, Parish Business Manager, Parish and School Staff, Pastoral Council, Parish and School families
  • Facilitate all aspects of the Confirmation Program
  • Base his/her ministry on the principles and directives described in the (GCD) General Catechetical Directory and the published guidelines and policies of the Archdiocese of Baltimore, and as such should be familiar with these documents
  • Foster and develop spiritual and educational growth of youth as supported financially by the parish
  • To be supervised and evaluated by the Pastor through the Director of Evangelization and Faith Formation. 

Job Requirements

  • Roman Catholic in sacramental union with the Church
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Religious Education or Theology, National Credential in Youth Ministry,background in theology and educational methodologies, willingness to work toward the educational qualifications for the job
  • Knowledge of all diocesan guidelines and procedures
  • Knowledge of liturgy and how to plan liturgical events
  • Proficiency in use of variety of office equipment
  • Good communications skills and experience with Constant Contact
