Job Description

One of the goals of the Archdiocese of Baltimore is to spread the light of the Gospel of Jesus Christ through missionary discipleship. In the faithful pursuit of that goal, we are hiring a Coordinator of Archdiocesan Music (Part-Time). This role reports to the Director of the Office of Divine Worship. 

If you are a practicing Catholic who supports the teachings of the Catholic Church, has a passion for music, and has a thorough understanding of Roman Catholic Liturgy, you may be a great fit for this role. 

Some of your duties will include:

  • Selecting and/or approving liturgical music for all Archdiocesan celebrations and liturgies as requested by the Office of the Archbishop
  • Assisting in the organization and facilitation of meetings/activities of the Archdiocesan Music Commission
  • Developing and maintaining a budget for the music program
  • Coordinating culturally diverse liturgical choirs for events and rehearsing on a regular basis
  • Training and preparing cantors, accompanists, and other instrumentalists for Archdiocesan liturgies
  • Other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

To be considered 'best qualified', candidates should possess the following qualifications:

  • Must be a Roman Catholic in good sacramental standing with a deep commitment to the principles and tradition of Roman Catholic Church and liturgy 
  • Degree in Music and Liturgy preferred or the equivalent experience
  • Have a demonstrated ability to recruit choral personnel and instrumentalists
  • Have a proficiency as an organist or pianist with knowledge of other musical instruments for liturgical use
